ZenWhisper Recordings is an independent record label run with (and for) the bands we support.

Started in 2005 by Aaron Ward, ZenWhisper Recordings was originally created in order to assist in the release of the band Worth Every Scar's debut EP (the band that also helped name the label after Aaron's earlier purchase of the domain "zenwhisper.com"). ZenWhisper continued to grow with the addition of various artists and successive releases. The label worked exclusively with bands that include a tight knit group of friends centered in San Diego, CA. Founder Aaron Ward had this to say of his label: "I've always considered ZenWhisper to be more of a family, I mean, we're all close friends who've worked with each other in bands, booking shows, as a roadie, webmaster, whatever. I don't really like the the term 'record label', but until I find a better term, I guess we're stuck with that." The label went on hiatus from 2008 to 2010, following their move from California to Oregon. After their relocation to Oregon, Laura K joined up to help run things. With the infusion of Laura, ZenWhisper Recordings began releasing a back catalogue of albums along with other rare and previously unreleased music. In mid-2010, ZenWhisper decided to make most of its releases available for free digital download (depending on agreements with the artists and publishing rights). Aaron had this to say of his decision, "We've never been out to make money, not even to break even. We just want to get the music out their. It is sort of a 'necessary evil' to get it on pays sites so that it is more easily found on a global level. But we, the label and the bands, just want it all out for free."

Our large and ever-growing family includes: Another Zeke Productions, Wayne Arms, The Associated Press, The Attacks, The BiNGE, Blue In The Face, Cabana 1 Records, Call For Arms, Machine's Agenda, Motionless, Punk N Junk, The Revents, Run Barbara Run, A Scribe Amidst The Lions, Sub>>Conformist, The UnderClassMen, VEMPS, & Worth Every Scar.
