About This Album... |
| |
"Changing My Regrets" is an acoustic compilation of songs by a multitude of artists and bands that are, though perhaps slightly dysfunctional, a family. We all grew musically, and in life, together...and sometimes apart. We've played in bands together, toured, been roadies, booked shows, promoted, managed, created artwork for flyers and albums, and always been fans of one another. Every single artist or band here is connected. Bands formed, broke up, shared members, grew to be brothers and sisters, drifted apart.
The music herein is meant to be diverse, freedom to take a simple step back or a complex one forward, to create beautiful melodic-harmony or unleash brash-anger. These songs are intended to be profound, poignant, inspiring, offensive, political, and fun. Much of the music here is previously unreleased, while some tracks have been featured elsewhere (those have been remastered), and some recorded especially for this compilation (this "family album"). In the end, I hope we had some fun, shared some music, and maybe raised some awareness. I encourage you to take a look at the organizations listed above. Many of the artists who played on this compilation have a direct connection to one or more of those causes. As it states above, "Find something in this world you care about..."
Background...
I originally had the idea of putting together an acoustic compilation back around 2008. A few bands had broken up, leaving solo acoustic artists, and other bands formed (or already existed). For the latter, I wanted to help take them out of their element and into something more "unplugged." My one prerequisite was that they were somehow connected to all this, again, with the idea of our music-family in mind. The idea remained, but the album did not come to fruition. Forward to early 2011, I find myself with a very similar desire, but much more intense, and further fueled by dozens of incredible musicians that, having started in San Diego, spread along the Westcoast and into the Midwest. I wanted us back together. Moreover, I wanted to be a part of something larger, not just to simply put songs next to each other, but for this to be OUR album, together. Though some bands posthumously participated, their members were very much alive and quite eager at the chance to be apart of this project. Others...well, needed more encouragement, harassment, and pushing to help inspire them. Whether recorded by the finest musical engineering equipment or simple 'tape recorder,' done independently or with the assistance of others, I love and respect every single song here, as I do those who created them.
Title (What's in a name?)...
This compilation, and the songs within, have a story. This is the soundtrack of our life...songs of love and sorrow, peace and conflict, change and regret. Ah, which brings us back to the title, "Changing My Regrets." Well, can you? Does changing who you are affect who you were or the things you've done? Were the lessons worth every scar they left or are you simply lying to yourself in so much as, nothing good could come from something so wrong? You can't change the past, only your perspective of it. But again, is that knowledge obtained or truth denied? It is this duality in meaning that we are left with. Memories typically don't lie, at least not on purpose. They are the combination of us then and us now. And though the past is best left behind, forgiven but not forgotten, I still find myself in the process of changing my regrets.

Wayne Arms "I Heard Midwest Skies Are Best"
Wayne Arms is an articulate, impassioned musician and writer who has spent several years in both Southern and Northern, California playing in bands, actively touring, and supporting the D.I.Y. scene. Aside from his ongoing solo career, Wayne has played with the bands Call For Arms, For.The.Win., Run Barbara Run, and WARDOGS. Each band, including solo, would experience its own level of success. Wayne has toured nationally, released nearly a dozen albums, and worked with Asian Man Records, Solidarity Recordings, and ZenWhisper Recordings. He's played shows alongside largely successful current and classic bands. Wayne's work has been politically charged, insightfully heartfelt, and hopeful. Through the years one thing has remained, Wayne has continued to write and record songs that can be related to the everyday person, in hopes of opening some eyes and ears along the way.

LYRICS:
Some how, some way
We’ll dance under the moon rays
Please crawl into my mind
Catapult my heart, swing from vine to vine
A soft whisper can be a start
Graze your skin with open hearts
An arrow through heart
Mean spirited words through mind
Self worth in doubt
Not loving you is a crime
I won’t be afraid of me anymore
I’m coming home, homecoming
I would be afraid of me anymore
We’ll make it some how, some way
These skies light up like an old wood torch
Our rocking chairs rock as we look to the north
South was good times, east wasn’t the best
Memories and dreams were formed out west
Love in the mid west
Love in the mid west
Young lovers on the road
Without a care in this crazy world
Rubber to asphalt
Lips to lips, this dream is sealed
We’re coming home
I won’t be afraid of me anymore
I’m coming home, homecoming
I would be afraid of me anymore
We’ll make it some how, some way
I won’t be afraid of me anymore
I’m coming home, homecoming
Open hearts open minds
I heard mid-west skies are the best! |

Adam Attax "Rise Above"
Adam Attax is a musician based in Seattle, Washington. His solo work can only be categorized as acoustic-punk-folk-rock. Aside from his solo work, Adam is also a member of the band Omega Moo, playing Punk, Surf, Ska, and Rock. He is also a former member of San Diego's infamous punk-rockers, The Attacks. Adam's music displays a depth in lyrical content, humbly-powerful voice, and a diversely-textured guitar style with power and melody. Intricately well crafted, straight-forward, Adam's songs reflect joy and pain, peace and conflict.

LYRICS:
When you’ve lost all you know to the games that’s been played
When your hand is all folded, you’re beaten with shame
When your spirits’ been broken and all that you’ve got
Is the cigarettes in your pocket and clothes on your back
Rise above broken dreams
Rise above poisoned well
Rise above twist of fate
Rise above painful hell
When the bottles are empty, you’ve hit the floor
And you can’t kill this pain that’s just eatin’ you alive
There’s no pills, there’s nothing to hold you up now
And you’re left all alone to dwell in this hell
Rise above broken dreams
Rise above poisoned well
Rise above twist of fate
Rise above painful hell
When you’ve crawled the walls ‘til the sun comes out and
There’s no way out ‘cept a slow suicide
And the lifestyle you live is just faster than light
And life feels like a cigarette burning out
When you’ve beaten yourself
To a bloody pulp with questions not answers to this paradigm
And your hands are all bloodied from punching walls
You think you’ve reached the end of the road
Rise above broken dreams
Rise above poisoned well
Rise above twist of fate
Rise above painful hell rise above |

Remains In Exile "Lost Forever"
Remains In Exile is a solo project created by musician Kevin Black. Kevin has been working in groups and bands since 2007, including Tabula Rasa, a Mexican Rock Band, as well as Methlabs, a potentially explosive traditional punk band. After acquiring one very special acoustic guitar in 2010, he set out to start an acoustic solo project that expanded on the catchy powerful tunes from Methlabs and incorporated strength and melody instrumentally to pair with throat shredding vocals and heartfelt sincerity in lyricism. Kevin is a professional educator by day and a musician by night. After having studied music academically on and off for over a decade, Remains In Exile has become an eclectic mix of various styles and musical approaches. Remains In Exile plans to release its debut EP in early 2012.

LYRICS:
It’s 2 O’clock and, there’s not a cloud in the sky
But you somehow gave me shivers, with that look in our eyes
You’re like malicious winters, that won’t ever say goodbye
Now I’m lost forever, until you leave or die
Now I’m feelin’ warm inside, but you’re not near me
If these drinks could keep me alive, maybe I’ll live nearly
And without you by my side, I kind of fear me
If we forget the love we tried, we’re never thinking clearly
I’ve got bars around me, they’re there to get me by
Not those for prisons oh no, no these bars help me survive
Cause if I can’t remember the future would keep me alive
These bars gave me the bender, to blind me from your eyes
I was feelin’ warm inside, but you weren’t near me
Ya those drinks they kept me alive, but I did not live nearly
And without you by my side, I kinda fear me
If I forget the love we tried, I’m just not thinking clearly
Don’t wanna forget you
Oh, but I might have to
As you’re passin’ through the bar, I just might ask you
Who the hell do you think you are, did I once know you?
I’ve got bars around me, they’re there to get me by
Not those for prisons oh no, no these bars help me survive
Cause if I can’t remember the future would keep me alive
These bars gave me the bender, to blind me from your eyes |

This Is Life "Buried"
This Is Life is Esteban Baena. In early 2006, Esteban helped to form the old-school punk-rock band Run Barbara Run. Though Esteban's tenure would not last long, his affect on the band would as they became a three-piece. Fortunately, one full-force Baena-demo would be unearthed and released years later. Shortly after his time in R.B.R., Baena would shift from punk-rock to hardcore-thrash in the form of Wages Of War. His vocals adapted seamlessly and excelled, along with the band's popularity. With the release of a perfectly executed EP in 2009 and a reputation for energetic, extreme live shows, Wages Of War built up a solid fanbase. Sadly, the group would see their demise less than four powerful years after their formation. In 2007, Baena had formulated a side project called Satanist, which now became his primary focus. Similar in style, but heavier in content, the band was built to offend, or perhaps provoke thought in their listeners. This project was set aside in late-2010, while Esteban went on hiatus from music. However, just before this, he yet again easily moved from one genre of music to another as if he were built for it, and no bigger a leap could be made. Nameless until almost a year later, Baena recorded profoundly somber music with a vastly different style in vocals and instrumentation, all of which he played. Rock, alt. country, experimental...This Is Life defies categorization, and may be as soothingly beautiful as it is emotively dark. This Is Life bare the wounds of an existence flawed by "life."

LYRICS:
Nothing's the same and nothing has changed
I'm still just a fool and every night ends the same way
waiting for you, wasting away
and I'm diggin' my own grave
and the dirt keeps falling around me
wishing someone would save me, waiting for my wasted life to bury me
Another sleepless night
searching for a light in the dark
One I can never find
all my hope is a lie
and it never ends
and I never asked to feel this way, watch it all come crumbling down
and the dirt keeps falling around me
wishing someone would save me, waiting for my wasted life to bury me

Self-Made Martyr "Hard to Say Goodbye"
Self-Made Martyr, originally started by Derek Morris as a side project, quickly became his primary musical focus. Derek had already garnered a name for himself, playing with such successful groups as Motionless, Blue In The Face, and A New Ending. Additionally, he has created a cult following with his VEMPS graphic art novels. Even before the inception of Self-Made Martyr, while Morris was still playing with Blue In The Face, he felt a shift in his writing, both in style and content. This new direction would lead him to craft songs that could only be described as an Alt. Country / Pop-Punk / Passion hybrid that is Self-Made Martyr. Through this endeavor, Derek wanted create an avenue to release his passion for just playing solo and being more intimate with the crowd, having no limits to playing his heart out and showing the world that there are ups and downs, bad times and good times, losers and winners. But regardless, we are all special and have a place here on this earth; let’s just be real with one another.

LYRICS:
When I heard the news today,
how your soul got taken away.
Open up Heaven's gates,
no more sorrow, no more pain.
I'll miss you when you're gone, your laughs and your cries.
I'll miss you when you're gone, it's hard to say goodbye.
And I know I'll see you again,
when my my spirit ends.
Open up those pearly gates,
no more sorrow, no more pain.
I'll miss you when you're gone, your laughs and your crys
I'll miss you when you're gone, it's hard to say goodbye.
So hard hard to say goodbye.

Motionless "Destination Moon"
Motionless is a power-pop-punk band from San Diego, CA. Their melodic, driven music forged them acclaimed success and an ever-growing die hard fanbase. They toured intensely and released two EPs (one of which posthumously). Despite being known as a trio in their latter days, Motionless would start their rise as a foursome, featured dueling vocals, accompanied by lead and rhythm guitar, and backed by a powerhouse drummer. Their infectiously melodic, yet undeniably hard-hitting music has moved many, reaching deep into the heart of their listener. Motionless has been...Matt

Morris (Guitar), Jerrod

A New Ending "Call It A Draw"
A New Ending is an acoustic, pop, punk project featuring Drew Smith and Derek Morris, good friends who have played music for years together and with their own projects. Old bandmates from Motionless, Derek went on to form Blue In The Face and Self-Made Martyr, while Drew played with The BiNGE and then form his own band, Save Amos. Each band have reached a level critical acclaim all their own, touring extensively, winning battle-of-the-band competitions, and even playing side-stage at Warped Tour! Now the two friends are back together, this time, sharing the instrumental duties of guitar, bass, and vocals, while Drew jumps back on to his first love, drums. A New Ending is anything but; rather, it is a new beginning of powerful, emotive music. A New Ending is Drew Smith (Vox, Guitar, Bass, Drums) & Derek Morris (Vox, Guitar, Bass).

LYRICS:
Here again; if we start stopping, it just won't pop anymore
I'm wondering if I'll be here and fine without you
Can we pretend we have more than we've ever hoped for?
If I can't win, I'll call a draw and try to save you
And I'll figure it out
Once more without you; I'll figure it out
So why offend? We'll just wake up coagulate and sore
My patience thin, but count on me to come right back for more
Find meaning; how did I get this far away from you?
The monsters win; they've done their best to try and stop you
And I'll figure it out
Once more without you; I'll figure it out
And we'll undoubtedly tend to "feel better" now
What’s with that letter you sent?
You're so impossible
[What I need is all I know]
Here again, I never learned a thing
Lies so sweetened: my teeth are rot and your heart's breaking
Let it begin; I'd love to see how far we get from here
Just let it in; shed the guilt and feel the fear
Here again; if we start stopping, it just won't pop anymore
I'm wondering if I'll be here and fine without you
Can we pretend we have more than we've ever hoped for?
If I can't win, I'll call a draw and try to save you |

Flat Wheeler "Silent Revolution for the Faint of Heart"
Flat Wheeler began regularly playing the remnant acoustic versions of songs to small crowds of friends in spring 2006 at local venues, coffee shops, and living rooms in San Diego and Riverside, California. Over the next few years, the music of Ray Sakover would gradually evolved into the hard hitting acoustic jams that make Flat Wheeler what it is today...folky-acoustic-punk-mayhem, accented with screaming harmonica melodies. Come 2010, Ray would put his project aside for a couple years while he played bass and sang with the pop-punk trio, Breaker Breaker One Niner, with whom he went on to record and tour with. These days...you can find Ray jamming in local venues, coffee shops, and living rooms in San Diego and Riverside.

Run Barbara Run "Words From The Cursed Book"
Run Barbara Run is a three-piece band of individuals that have self described as their band as "3 people that hate just about everything!" Engaging as their music is, they stand solitary, breaking down the ideological fundamentals attributed to what "Punk Rock" is supposed to be. Destroying boundaries and setting no limits, their songs are angry, political, and fun. Their live shows are furious and notoriously an absolute blast to be a part of. R.B.R. has taken a sound that has such influences as punk, rock, old hardcore, and horror movies and made it their own. During the course of their tenure, the band had released one album, toured nationally, and played with nationally recognized artists with heavy label backing. Wayne Arms (guitar/vocals), Sean Conformist (bass), and Nate Horror (drums) also went on to their own respective success in various bands. But, Run Barbara Run would go on to later release one posthumous EP recording which featured a forth original member, a singer by the name of Esteban Baena. Whether as a three or four piece band, Run Barbara Run is an entity all its own.

LYRICS:
Holding onto what I think I have left.
A little bit of hope, reality second guess.
Is this what I fought for?
Was it worth the sacrifice?
In the end, will it even matter that i gave my life?
I
will never be free.
I will never be free.
You will never have me.
Cus we will never be free.
Is tomorrow a new day or
one step closer to the end
of this road I walk?
Where will it lead?
pretending to see the light at the end.
I will never be free.
I will never be free.
You will never have me,
Cus we will never be free.
It’s all a lie…

Methlabs "Paul Tucker"
Methlabs is a dual-vocal, dual-guitar, hard hitting bass and drums, punk-rock band from North Park, California. After the demise of The Associated Press in 2008, perhaps Aaron Attacks and Matt Attacks (who had previously played together in, yes, The Attacks) found themselves with a desire to continue what they had started, but take it to a new level and in a new direction. Little time passed before they formed the four-piece Methlabs in 2009 with Aaron on bass and vocals, Matt continuing his drums, the uniquely talented Jarnard on guitar, and one Kevin Black (later of Remains In Exile), whose vocal range and guitar would help to further broaden the group's musical scope. The band would release one demo ep, before having an amicable split with Jarnard. Matt jumped smoothly over to guitar, adding his own texture and an additional layer of rhythm to their music. The boys called on yet another alumni of The Attacks in drummer Neil Braden. Neil was a driving force behind keeping the explosive Attacks together 'till the end, and happened to be a powerfully precise drummer whose skill and timing fit perfectly into Methlabs. Raspy and melodic vocals, backed by a powerhouse of instrumentation, made for one killer band, and energetic live shows. Methlabs has a true diversity in and complexity in style. Unafraid to offend, unashamed to test their own limits, Methlabs find themselves in the unique position to guide their own course. Call it "Punk," if you have to categorize it, but there's much more there, just listen.
Methlabs are Aaron Attacks (bass / vocals), Kevin Black (guitar / vocals), Matt Attacks (guitar / vocals), and Neil Braden (drums).

Save Amos "Let Me Go"
Save Amos is four-piece rock band from San Diego, California. Two brothers began writing and recording acoustic pop-punk demos back in 2006 with nothing more than their voices, a guitar, a bass, and two bar stools. However, it wasn't until 2009 that the band, now with four members, would really take flight, and experience mainstream success. It was quite a conversion from an acoustic guitar and bass duo to the rock quartet now known as Save Amos. Their music: a message of hope for the world, and a knowledge that we are each, in our own right, valuable and important enough to make a difference not only in our own lives, but the lives of all we come across. The release of a 4-song demo and dedicated following led to the band's opportunity to sign with Rdub Recordings, with whom they released a widely distributed EP and toured heavily. Their studio work is flawless, but their live shows are even better! Save Amos is Drew Smith (Vocals, Guitar), Michael Smith (Bass, Vocals), Tony Talamantes (Guitar), and Ziggy Pelayo (Drums).

Aharon "For I Have Come To Kill You"
Aharon is the musical project from ZenWhisper mastermind, Aaron Ward. After well over a decade of promoting, managing, and producing some the finest bands and music (beginning in San Diego, CA and now beyond), he thought it time to 'put on tape' a little of his own. Having worked with these incredible musicians, writers, and friends, one could not help but be inspired to create. Aharon hopes to tell a story with each song, to be the soundtrack for lives of regret and hope, anger and forgiveness.

Palantine "Deceptionado"
Palantine...from the mind (and heart) of Jesse Manrique comes this rising force of acoustic, eclectic, and experimental music. Whether instrumental or with lyrically driven vocals, the songs of Palantine elicit emotive imagery and express soulful honesty. Leader of the infamous group Tar Itch, one time roadie for the band Motionless, and longtime staple of the San Diego music community, Manrique has developed a writing method distinctly his own. His life, his perspective, his journey, are all deeply ingrained into his music and lyrics. Despite his youth, Jesse has already led a long life filled with both elation and strife. As that life (that journey) continues, so does his songmanship evolve, while still retaining the familiarity (the essence) of Palantine.

Blue In The Face "Missing My Regrets"
Blue In The Face began with just the guitar and voice of Derek Morris. What started as a solo endeavor quickly grew into much more with the addition of Amanda Morris. Balanced with Derek's smooth vocals and textured chords is Amanda's rich, bluesy voice and accomplished piano and keyboard playing. The music of Blue In The Face flows from simple acoustic to pop to electronica. The band would become an underground sensation with an incredibly supportive and dedicated fanbase, and win several online spots as "Top Band", "Bad of the Week," and on. Still, for them, it was always about a love of music and sharing that with their audience.

Hearing the whisper of the winds, the winds
Just when I thought it stops, it begins, begins
whoooaaa I know
whoaaa I know
It's getting darker every year, just when I thought I found you
I'm feeling the pain of my regrets, but your love is shinning right through!
Now that's all is left is you, is you
Memories far from new, from new
It's getting darker every year, just when I thought I found you
I'm feeling the pain of my regrets, but your love is shinning right through!
Hearing the whisper of the winds, the winds
Just when I thought it stops it begins, begins

Wayne Arms "Santa Ana"

LYRICS:
This scene fades to the sea, you always had me
Fighting in our dreams, so much uncertainty
Feeling lost and free, with floating imagery
Taking time to see, all the possibilities
Happy and free you’ll see
Who knew we had the same personality
You live your life just like me
Sometimes you feel lost an empty
But it gets better you’ll see
This scene fades to the sea; you gave your heart to me
Defending all of our dreams, and what could be
No matter what others think, I’ll always be me
Taking time to see, all the possibilities
Happy and free you’ll see
Who knew we had the same personality
You live your life just like me
Sometimes you feel lost an empty
But it gets better you’ll see
All our love
All our passion
Take me a way
We’re gonna live for better days
This scene fades to the sea; I know you love me
Never in our life have we been this happy
You never saw yourself, sanding next to me
Taking time to see, all the possibilities |

Methlabs "Barely Above Ground"

LYRICS:
I can remember!
I can remember!
I can remember!
When it took the thought of dying, to get my ass out of bed
No reason, no voice of guidance, watching my soul just bleed
I can remember!
I can remember!
I can remember!
Waking up to a spinning ceiling, sinking crushing me down
Dare to hide, go run for cover, or just dig till I drown
My head is barely above the ground
Shovel in hand, I dig my own mound
No path left to travel, I made my own
What once was loosing became survival, it’s all I’ve known
It’s all I’ve known!
It’s all I’ve known!
It’s all I’ve known!
I’d give it all up for a new life somewhere far away
From the judgment and the disappointment that I feel everyday
It’s all I’ve known!
It’s all I’ve known!
It’s all I’ve known! |

LYRICS:
Blow your mind
Doin’ the best I can
Blow your mind
What’s your hidden plan?
We want action
We want the truth
We want some celebration
Dance on the ashes and
Burn all the lies
Burn them all in celebration!
Blow your mind
Doing the best I can
Blow your mind
What’s your hidden plan?
Blow your mind
Doing the best I can
Blow your mind
Unveil your hidden plan!
We are the reaction
We’ll find the truth
We’ll have a celebration
Break down the walls
Leave them all behind
Burn them all in celebration!
Blow your mind
Doin’ the best I can
Blow your mind
Extinguish your plans!
We will fight you
We will break you
And dance on your blood
We will find you
Desecrate you
We will unmask you
Blow your mind
Dig your own grave
Blow your mind
Whose side are you on?

The Associated Press "S.S. Regret"
The Associate Press is a 3-piece punk band who played socially aware, inebriatedly executed, music. Their lyrics speak to the notion that one can be anti-government, while still being pro-country. The words to their songs also note the hazy memories and profound reasoning behind drowning ones sorry...or just being drunk. The Associated Press could now be considered something of a supergroup, sporting Aaron Attacks (The Attacks, OC Bombers, Methlabs), Corey Basement (Die September, Breaker Breaker On Niner, Four Tracks), and Matt Attacks (The Attacks, Methlabs). A large sum of the strength behind this triad can be contributed to two prolific writers in Aaron and Corey (despite their different writing styles), three very uniquely talented musicians, and incredibly intense, energetic live shows. Perhaps too flammable for their own good, the group would last only a couple of years. They would, however, survive the recording and release of an EP, their "Blackout City Tour", and a slew of local shows in their hometown of San Diego, California. Less than 3 years after their breakup, a complete album featuring everything from their single recording session was released.
The Associate Press were Aaron Attacks (bass, vocals) | Corey Basement (guitar, vocals) | Matt Attacks (drums).

LYRICS:
As red as the blood that fills your heart, this rage inside of me grows
Not looking for a party, looking for redemption
Do you see the rage boiling over inside?
Do you see it taking over inside?
Do you remember yesterday?
The tears came streaming down my face
You said you’d be sticking around
Not today
My ship of regret has sailed without me
It's left me all alone out in the f*cking cold (in the f*cking cold)
My ship of regret has sailed without me
It's left me all alone out in the f*cking cold (in the f*cking cold)
Do you remember yesterday?
The tears came streaming down my face
You said you’d be sticking around
Not today, yesterday
My ship of regret has sailed without me
It's left me all alone out in the f*cking cold (in the f*cking cold)
My ship of regret has cast its sails without me

Run Barbara Run "The Curse"

LYRICS:
This book is cursed
It can’t be re-written or reversed
You are the plague
A drain on the human race
Take this page
Burn it in my name
You’re a fake
A hopeless mistake
Slit your wrists
There’s no tomorrow
Drown yourself with pills
And in sorrow
Until you break
Nothing will change
Kill yourself
You’re better off that way
This book is cursed
I’ll place it on your chest
As we lay you to rest into the ground
You did your best
Slit your wrists
There’s no tomorrow
Drown yourself with pills
And in sorrow
It
wasn’t enough
that I saved your life
It wasn’t enough that I didn’t try
If given up on you means this
Well f*ck you cus I’m still pissed
I hope that you f*cking die
Cus in the end, I wish I didn’t try
It
wasn’t enough… |

Remains In Exile "Kill The Machine"

LYRICS:
As you curse the ballot box, you know assholes 1 and 2,
never cared about you
And you wanna make some noise, well you have a voice
Let's all take down this machine
Kill The Machine!
What’s the price that you paid for industrial life
Your retirement gift’s a bushido knife
through a slip signed on pink, tell the kids and the wife
as they stare at their plate knowing, it’s their last bite
Keep your life, your lies, and your greed
I'll live my own, I'm no tool in your scheme
I won't be your slave, I'll never sew your seed
I'll die twice in this life just to kill the machine
Kill the Machine
On corporate retreat, paid for by our bailout
What’s it like from the seat of the jet you flew out
The liberals demand spending cause lobbies made them their whores
while republicans fight for their cuts and their wars

Moosejaw "There's A Market For Everything"
Moosejaw is something of a mystery...surrounded by folklore, wrapped within a conundrum, riddled with conjectural presumptuous rumors. They, themselves, have called the group "good old fashioned rock and roll." Some would have you think that they are just another simple post-punk-alternative-hardcore-rock band. But, there is more to this story, which invalidated facts and partially fabricated information have proved to be true! ..."Moosejaw" began as a social experiment mandated by the local court system. In the summer of 2011, four men faced a peculiar circumstance and a most definitive unknown outcome. In lieu of community service and anger management classes, they opted to serve their community with the gift of music. Moosejaw was born. The plan was to give these men a positive avenue for their pent up frustration and anger. Feelings that "craigslist rants and raves" and "yelp" no longer subdued. The plan was to give these four men a chance to give back and reap the benefits of charity. Little did the system know the monster that they had created. The plan was flawed.
The subjects members of Moosejaw are Eric McClanahan ["Vocals"], Pete Neusch ["Guitar"], Izz Reyes ["Bass"], and Ezequiel Pelayo ["Drums"].

LYRICS:
A crack through the window of my closed shades
Tells me it's morning...or dusk, and I've survived another day
Whole lotta gamblin' and drinkin' to cloud my head
One man found trouble, cuz I had four aces, and a fifth one will bring you dead
...No one gets out alive...no one gets out alive...
My last woman she was lucky, up and snuck away in the night
I'm a light sleeper, but I'd been drinkin' a lot that night
Shots of 3-digit proof whiskey 'll drown out any sound
She got away lucky, or I'd shot her ass right down
No one gets out alive
Ain't no one gets out alive
No one gets out alive
Ain't no one gets out alive
So, if you see me comin', you best turn tail or hide
I've learned quickly, that only I am stuck with me
Everything wilts around me, 'specially all I love
Wife...with child, I'll never see since they're in a place far above
No one gets out alive
Ain't no one gets out alive
No one gets out alive
Ain't no one gets out alive
You ain't gettin' out alive
No One gets out alive |

Flat Wheeler "Mamma Taught Me"
Flat Wheeler began regularly playing the remnant acoustic versions of songs to small crowds of friends in spring 2006 at local venues, coffee shops, and living rooms in San Diego and Riverside, California.

LYRICS:
See that girl, the one riding the 8-0 mini
She's the one the old guys call little wahine
Rumor has it she's the best they've seen around
She's the one that shows 'em up & shuts 'em down
She always surfs this break, she never hesitates, she's got style
And if the swell hits right, with no one in sight, she'll go the mile
The girl can carve a mean line
She's got moves so clean, tucked in tight
That lil' surfer girl can really shoot the curl, she's alright
She'll walk the nose to hang five
And double-back again to stabilize
That lil' surfer girl can really shoot the curl, she's alright

Blue In The Face "Change My Mind"

Amanda McFadden "Changes"
Amanda McFadden is an accomplished musician who, among other instruments, has excelled as a pianist, singer, songwriter, and even conductor! Ever passionate about her art, Amanda made music the focus of her academic studies as well, even into graduate school. Earlier in her career as a solo artist, she would sometimes be accompanied by long-time friend, Wayne Arms on guitar and vocals. In 2008, just after the breakup of Wayne's punk band, Run Barbara Run, Amanda briefly formed the political folk punk band, Blood And Bayonets with two of R.B.R.'s alumni in Wayne and Sean Conformist. Though her band did not survive, Amanda would go on to lend her piano and vocal prowess to some of Wayne's early and formative music, adding her own depth and warmth into the arrangement of these engaging songs. Though solo again, you'll hardly find her alone, surrounded by her fellow students, colleagues, and eager listeners.

Macy "The Rain in SoCal Falls Mostly on my Face"
Macy began as a vanity project after the success of Worth Every Scar, though it has emerged as an ever-evolving body of art in itself. Traversing all styles and textures, the compositions of Eric Macy McClanahan defy compartmentalization or limit. Blues, rock, electronica, folk, metal, punk, pop, pomp and circumstance; nothing is off-limits. Music, videos, animation; anything can happen. As long as his neurons fire, Macy will try to capture whatever sound resides in his heart.

LYRICS:
Darkened skies on the horizon rolling on
I’m fearful of the night but more so of the dawn
It’s not the clouds I fear or rain that’s sure to come along
It’s the knowledge that when they arrive I will be all alone
I can’t believe
I let you manipulate me so
I can’t believe
You ever persuaded me to go
You lured me down to SoCal where you swore it never rained
Then you left me alone to die here now it’s raining everyday
You called me to you so you wouldn’t be alone
It’s not so much love as it is just to be with anyone
I swore I’d leave you just to be the one to say goodbye
But you’ve got murder in your eyes and on your mind
I can’t believe
for some reason I’m still here
I can’t believe
you never tasted my tears

Palantine "Can't Have Love Over Everything"
